The quantities per square meter already include a conservative wastage allowance. Most contractors still add 5–10% contingency on top of material cost for unexpected repairs or second coats. These factors are based on standard Philippine construction practice.

These are shared so non-technical people can do their own material computation without the need to ask engineers or quantity surveyors. These factors in itself have conservative wastage factors. Anyhow, some still include 5%-10% additional expenses of the total material costs for contingency.

FAQ section:

Q: How many gallons of paint do I need for 100 sq.m. of concrete wall?
A: For a double coat of semi-gloss, you need approximately 8 gallons (0.08 × 100). Plus 2 gallons of primer and 5 gallons of patching compound.

Q: Do I need a neutralizer before painting new concrete?
A: Yes — fresh concrete is alkaline and can cause paint to peel. Apply concrete neutralizer first (about 0.02 gal per sq.m.) before priming.

Q: What’s the difference between enamel and semi-gloss for wall painting?
A: Semi-gloss is used for concrete/masonry walls and is more moisture-resistant. Enamel (quick-dry or flat wall) is used for wood and metal surfaces.
